probably one of the single best exercises you can do for your overall
health and fitness improvement. The problem with walking is that it can
be easy to fall into a rut. Walking the same route around your
neighborhood can get a bit boring. If you're struggling with this, here
are three tips to help you mix it up and break out of that rut:
One of the best ways to get motivated is to do a walking event. There are tons of these all the time-pick one, sign up and start training! The fact that you have a concrete goal down the road will help you stay focused and not get bored with walking.
Another great thing about events is that you can walk for a cause. Raising money for charity adds that extra oomph you need to take your training walk on the days you really don't want to. If you're doing it for something (or even someone!) it may mean a lot more to you.
Another great way to get out of a walking rut is to find an exercise partner. Ideally, this is a friend or at least someone you get along with! Your walking partner is someone who will suffer through the same things you suffer through on the tough days. They'll challenge you to do better and won't let you settle for less. The companionship of a walking partner is a huge factor as well-time flies by when you're having a great conversation! Just make sure you are both on the same fitness level.
